It's an organic synthetic raw materials, which can be used to make levulinic acid (also known as fruit acid), furan resins with various properties (such as furfuryl alcohol resin, furan resin, type II resin), furfuryl alcohol-urea formaldehyde resin, phenolic resin and anticorrosive paint, anticorrosive film, etc.  It is also a good solvent for furan resins, varnishes and pigments, used as rocket fuel. It is also used as synthetic fiber, rubber, pesticide and foundry industry.
